1. Morning Sunlight and Nasdaq Futures

Today, as usual, I woke up slightly before my alarm sounded. Watching the morning sunlight filter through the window blinds, my first instinct wasn't to scroll through social media or look at lifestyle feeds. Instead, I immediately reached for my phone to check overnight US market futures, AI tech earnings updates, and global interest rate announcements.

Without realizing it, this routine has become second nature. Occasionally, a quiet thought crosses my mind: "What do other women my age think about when they start their day?" Before picking up lipstick, I check Nasdaq futures. Before checking the weather forecast, I gauge global market sentiment.

It might be an unconventional way to live, but strangely enough, I love every bit of it.


2. From Mathematical Curiosity to Quantitative Logic

Back in university, I didn't dream of becoming a quant simply because I liked numbers. I enjoyed solving complex calculus problems, and I loved creating programs from scratch using code. Above all, I was fascinated by the idea that vast real-world phenomena could be explained through mathematical models.

The stock market operated on the exact same logic. While financial news often speaks through emotional narratives, the market itself is a massive game of statistical probabilities generated by mountains of data. "Could there be underlying mathematical rules within this apparent chaos?" That simple curiosity shaped the trajectory of my life.

During lunch, discussions with colleagues naturally revolve around market infrastructure—semiconductor supply chains, central bank policy shifts, and novel Large Language Model (LLM) architectures. It feels like collaborating with brilliant minds to solve the world's most intricate puzzle.


4. Balancing Multifaceted Identities

When catching up with friends outside the financial industry, I am frequently asked: "Can you give me a stock recommendation?" or "You must be making fortune!" I usually smile. Being a quant isn't about fortune-telling; it's about systematically managing risk and refining hypotheses through relentless experimentation.

"People are rarely defined by a single dimension. There is a side of me that enjoys finding cozy cafes and aesthetic design, just as there is a side that gets deeply excited reading deep learning research papers late at night. Embracing both makes the journey fulfilling."

Even after office hours, when a fresh quantitative idea emerges—such as integrating options order flow with sentiment analysis from AI embeddings—I naturally open my laptop at home. To some, it looks like workaholism, but when you genuinely love unraveling complex problems, time simply vanishes. The quiet joy when a hyperparameter adjustment yields a 0.5% performance improvement after days of frustration is impossible to describe.


5. Human Reasoning in the Age of AI

As Artificial Intelligence advances at an astonishing pace, generating execution scripts that used to take days now takes minutes. Paradoxically, as AI tools become more powerful, **human critical thinking becomes vastly more essential**:

  1. Asking the Right Questions: AI can execute code, but humans must formulate meaningful market hypotheses.
  2. Questioning Data Quality: Identifying subtle data biases, survivorship errors, and regime shifts requires human intuition.
  3. Understanding Psychology Behind Data: Behind every chart, tick, and order book level lie human fear, greed, expectations, and panic.

At its core, quantitative finance isn't just about reading cold numbers—it's about studying human behavior aggregated into data. Every tick tells a story, and learning to read that story with greater clarity is a lifelong pursuit.


6. Final Thoughts: Looking Ahead

When asked by my parents if staring at screens all day is exhausting, my answer remains unchanged: "It's genuinely exciting." Failure is an inevitable part of the process, but aggregated failures eventually crystallize into a robust trading strategy.

My goal isn't merely to 'beat' the market, but to understand it deeply. I don't aspire to be someone people look at just for impressive results; I want to be someone whose rigorous way of thinking inspires others. Until then, I will continue waking up to global market updates, enjoying a warm cup of coffee, downloading fresh data pipelines, and writing the same final line in my daily log:
